This automatic self-winding A-17 pattern watch follows a classic design field watch used in the Korean War during the 1950s. The plexiglass crystal gives it the vintage and domed effect. Similar to those used during the war. It runs on an automatic movement, NH35, robust and very reliable. It is said to be as reliable as the swiss movements. Under this family, the other related models would be A-11 based on the WW2 USAAF pilots watch and the GG-W-113 based on the Vietnam War issue model. These variants with plexiglass/acrylic crystals are the closest watches to the originally issued watches.
The watch case is bead blasted and has a satin finish case made from Military Grade 316L stainless steel. It comes with a sweeping second hand, hacking function, black dial and Luminova on the markings and hands for first-rate night-time performance.
As a result of the UV veterans association approaching MWC for a watch’s built to be similar to that made by field watch brands such as Hamilton, Bulova and Benrus, this paved the way for the MWC models like the A-11, A-17, and GG-W-113. Throughout the years the 1940s to the 1960s, such original field watches that have gone through wartime are in beaten up conditions and to find one in good condition would be tough. Furthermore, watches in these eras were made of alloy and were not durable, to begin with.
