Different ways to wear Nato strap

Nato watch strap is the most versatile strap that can always satisfy your changing preferences for a fresh look. To my surprise, there are 2 ways, in which you can wear your Nato or Zulu strap. I have just recently discovered the 2nd method and would be sharing with you how in a moment. Here, I have used our Grey Nato watch strap with my Omega Speeedmaster for a quick demonstration on how you can also wear your Nato strap in your preferred personal style. This is also applicable to our Zulu straps as well. Here are the 2 ways (shown with Nato strap):
The commonly known way by many is termed as the “Overhead” method. Why known as “Overhead”? All of the loops have gone past the watch head at the point just prior to wearing the strap. Noticeably, the last loop (circled) is over the head of the watch. If you are unsure of how the Nato strap ends up in such a position on the watch, you may refer to my other post on how to install your watch strap here.
Wear the watch as to how you would with a normal strap. Wrap the Nato strap around your wrist, with the tail end of the strap through the buckle and the 2 other loops in this manner. Your wrist shall go through this portion of the strap. For illustrations, I have used one of the 4 different Nato tail end styles: “Outward Fold” to tuck the tail end of the strap.
2) “Underpass”
This is the less known method and the method which is novel and I would like to try it out occasionally. My favourite is still the with the “Overhead”. Why “Underpass”? If you notice, the setup of the watch strap is entirely different from the previous. To set the strap up for this “Underpass” method, shift the strap such that the last loop of the Nato strap comes just right beneath the watch. The last loop (circled) should just stay just under the head of the watch.
Here is where it gets different. The tail end of the strap goes through the last loop and the buckle. Then you put your wrist through with the last loop going under your wrist.
Finally, tidying up the ends of the Nato strap; a totally different feel to it. A cleaner view from the top. Give it a try!
